  • David BerkowitzVice President, Healthcare Insights and AnalyticsECRI Institute

    David Berkowitz is currently responsible for business development and sales for ECRI Institute's information, analytics and services, providing healthcare insights and analytics to organizations in the payer, manufacturers, group purchasing organizations and consultant market sectors as well as collaborating on products and concepts for healthcare providers. Mr. Berkowitz has over 35 years of experience in health care, particularly in the areas technology evaluation, assessment and sales with views from the for-profit and nonprofit sectors.

    Starting at ECRI in 1977 as a biomedical engineer, he spent 18 years with ECRI where he was responsible for testing and evaluating health care technology and performing forensic analyses of accidents involving medical devices and building and managing ECRI's technology consulting practice. During that time, he contributed extensively in ECRI's publications helping health care providers understand and manage medical devices. He returned to ECRI in 2013 to develop the markets for healthcare insights and analytics.

    Mr. Berkowitz also spent 16 years at Varian Medical Systems, the world's largest manufacturer of radiation therapy technology for the treatment of cancer. At Varian he had responsibilities for managing strategic and national accounts and was Director of the Northeast Region.

    Mr. Berkowitz holds B.S. and M.Eng Degrees in Biomedical Engineering as well as a Certificate of Clinical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
